In the Water Margin

Xie Zhen and his younger brother Xie Bao hunt in the hills near Dengzhou. Ordered to kill a tiger, they wait on the mountainside and wound it, only to see it tumble into the estate of Squire Mao. The household claims the prize and conspires with officials to imprison the hunters instead.

Yue He carries word out of the jail, allowing Sun Xin, Gu Dasao and their relatives to organize a rescue. The Dengzhou party subsequently joins Liangshan. Xie Zhen, the Two-Headed Snake, takes seat thirty-four under the Tianbao star. He and his brother continue to rely on the climbing and scouting skills they learned as hunters.
