Xie Bao, the Twin-Tailed Scorpion, hunts beside his elder brother Xie Zhen in Dengzhou. Their success against a tiger becomes a disaster when the animal falls into Squire Mao’s grounds. The landlord takes the credit and has the brothers imprisoned through his connections with the authorities.
Word reaches their family through Yue He, who serves at the jail. Gu Dasao and her companions break them out, and the rescuers leave Dengzhou together for Liangshan. Xie Bao is placed thirty-fifth under the Tianku star, directly beside his brother. Mountain paths, hunting forks and their habit of working as a pair remain their distinguishing features.
