In the Water Margin
Kong Liang grows up near White Tiger Mountain and studies fighting with Song Jiang alongside his elder brother Kong Ming. A drunken encounter with Wu Song turns violent. The Kong household captures Wu Song, only for Song Jiang, who is staying there, to recognize him and settle the misunderstanding.
The brothers later become outlaws at White Tiger Mountain. When Huyan Zhuo captures Kong Ming, Kong Liang breaks away to seek assistance. His appeal helps bring the mountain bands together against Qingzhou. He joins Liangshan at seat sixty-three under the Dikuang star, immediately after his brother.
